Aseer's Ancient Honeycomb Sanctuaries Preserve Legacy of Beekeeping

Abha, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 01 يوليو 2026ء) Aseer is one of the Kingdom's leading regions for beekeeping and honey production, thanks to its rich vegetation and temperate climate. These conditions inspired beekeepers to craft hives from naturally hollow tree trunks abandoned by birds.

These handcrafted hives provide an environment that closely resembles the bees' natural habitat, supporting healthy colonies and sustainable honey production. Their natural insulation helps maintain stable temperature and humidity levels inside.

Beekeeper Hassan Al-Jaizi explained that Aseer's natural environment has enabled the production of several varieties of high-quality honey, each distinguished by its unique taste, color, and characteristics depending on the flowering season and the nectar sources available.

The hives are strategically placed among trees and on mountain slopes, taking advantage of the natural scent of the wood and the wax residue inside to attract migrating bees.
