IMCTC Holds International Dialogue on Capacity Building in High-Risk Environments During UN Counter-Terrorism Week

New York, July (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 01 يوليو 2026ء) The session was chaired by IMCTC Secretary-General Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi and moderated by Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Centre Mauro Miedico. It brought together experts and specialists, along with representatives of member states and regional and international organizations.

In his opening remarks, Major General Al-Moghedi emphasized that the evolving threats associated with terrorism financing require stronger international cooperation and greater coordination among countries and regional and international organizations. He said capacity building, knowledge sharing, and the development of institutional partnerships are fundamental pillars for strengthening national systems and enhancing countries' preparedness to address this transnational threat. He also highlighted IMCTC's experience in implementing specialized programs and initiatives aimed at building the capacities of its member states across various areas of counterterrorism.

The session featured extensive discussions on the key operational, institutional, and regulatory challenges related to combating terrorism financing in low-capacity and high-risk environments. Participants also reviewed international best practices and mechanisms for strengthening capacity-building efforts, enhancing national response capabilities, and expanding international cooperation to address emerging threats and risks.

The session forms part of IMCTC's ongoing efforts to strengthen international cooperation, develop strategic partnerships, and support capacity-building programs. These efforts contribute to enhancing the capabilities of member states to combat terrorism and its financing while promoting regional and international security and stability.
