Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Reserve Monitors Impact of Summer Solstice on Vegetation and Wildlife

Rafha, June (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 24 يونيو 2026ء) The authority explained that the summer solstice typically occurs on June 20 or 21 each year due to Earth's axial tilt of approximately 23.5 degrees toward the sun. This alignment causes the sun’s rays to fall directly on the Tropic of Cancer, giving the Northern Hemisphere its greatest number of daylight hours during the year.

The authority noted that after the summer solstice, daylight hours gradually decrease until the autumnal equinox. It added that the extended daylight hours and elevated temperatures associated with this period influence vegetation cycles by accelerating the maturation of some seasonal plants, while prompting others to adapt to summer climatic conditions.

The authority further explained that seasonal changes linked to the summer solstice also affect wildlife, as many species adapt to higher temperatures by altering their daily activity patterns and becoming more active during cooler periods of the day. These adaptations help maintain ecological balance and support the continuity of vital ecological functions within natural systems.

The Imam Turki bin Abdullah Royal Nature Reserve Development Authority emphasized that such astronomical phenomena reflect the precision of the cosmic order and the Earth's movement around the sun. It added that these events enhance scientific and astronomical awareness within society by simplifying scientific concepts and linking them to natural phenomena and environmental changes observed throughout the year, thereby strengthening understanding of the relationship between astronomical events and the sustainability of ecosystems.
