Global Symposium For Regulators Sets Course For Future Of Digital Regulation

Riyadh, August (پاکستان پوائنٹ نیوز ‎‎‎ 26 أغسطس 2025ء) In this context, the Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR25), hosted by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission in cooperation with the UN International Telecommunication Union (ITU), stands out as a key platform bringing together representatives from more than 190 countries under the theme “Regulation for Sustainable Digital Development.”

Observers affirm that the symposium represents a historic milestone in shaping a new global framework for digital regulation, particularly amid growing discussions on the future of artificial intelligence (AI), the integration of terrestrial and non-terrestrial networks, and sixth-generation (6G) communication standards.

The symposium reaffirms the central role of regulators in enabling innovation, connecting the unconnected, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), while also protecting consumers and narrowing the global digital divide.

Discussions further address governance and transparency within a comprehensive vision of technologies that place people at the core of their priorities.

On the sidelines of the symposium, an accompanying exhibition will showcase national and international initiatives in digital regulation, AI, and emerging technologies, alongside “Media Oasis,” which offers visitors the opportunity to explore national and global success stories and engage with live experiences.

The exhibition features specialized panel discussions addressing AI policies, the future of gaming and e-sports, and the infrastructure of the digital economy.

The symposium is being held at a time when the Kingdom’s leading role is increasingly evident, having been selected as a member of ITU's Digital Regulation Network board. This follows major investments in digital infrastructure that raised internet penetration to 99% in 2024, positioning the Kingdom to lead the adoption of next-generation digital technologies.

The event will conclude with a final declaration expected to lay the foundations for regulatory principles in the post-digital era, supported by participants’ insights and session recommendations. This positions the GSR25 as a pivotal milestone in the global digital regulatory landscape, advancing toward more inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development.
