MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th September, 2019) An Astana format ministerial meeting on Syria could happen on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, Maria Zakharova, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said Friday.
"Multilateral meetings are also planned for [Russian Foreign Minister] Sergey Lavrov. This includes the UN Security Council meetings ... held on Russia's initiative as Russia is chairing the UNSC. An Astana format meeting is not excluded and the work on it is underway, and traditional [Collective Security Treaty Organization] CSTO meetings, and a number of other events," Zakharova told a briefing.
