CAIRO (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2019) Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan was received for talks by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and expressed his country's full support to Riyadh in confronting sabotage incidents such as the recent drone attack against the Kingdom's oil infrastructure, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) official state news hub said on Thursday.

Earlier in the day, Khan arrived in Saudi Arabia with a delegation for a two-day official visit before heading to New York to attend the 74th high-level General Debate of the UN General Assembly.

Mohammed bin Salman, in turn, emphasized the importance of addressing such acts of sabotage, which are aimed at destabilizing security and stability in the region.

The meeting was held at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah and attended by Saudi State Minister Turki bin Mohammed bin Fahd, Foreign Minister Ibrahim Assaf, National Guard Minister Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Intelligence Chief Khalid Humaidan, and Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Nawaf Malki.

On Saturday, Saudi Arabia's national oil company Aramco had two of its facilities attacked by drones. The affected compounds caught massive fire and were shut down, causing the Kingdom to cut almost half of its oil production at the time. While the perpetrators remain unknown and the investigation into the incident is underway, responsibility for the attack was already claimed by the military wing of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement, also known as the Houthis. The United States, in the meantime, has put the blame on Iran. Tehran has refuted the accusation.
