Russia, EU, Ukraine Discussed Volume of Gas Supplies to Ukraine, Litigation - Novak

During trilateral consultations, Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission (EC) discussed, among other things, the possible volumes of gas supplies and litigation between Gazprom and Naftogaz, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Thursday

BRUSSELS (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th September, 2019) During trilateral consultations, Russia, Ukraine and the European Commission (EC) discussed, among other things, the possible volumes of gas supplies and litigation between Gazprom and Naftogaz, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak told reporters on Thursday.

Talks between the European Union, Russia and Ukraine were held in the Belgian capital city of Brussels earlier in the day and were chaired by Maros Sefcovic, the vice president of the European Commission in charge of the Energy Union. Russia was represented by Novak, while Ukraine was represented by Energy Minister Oleksiy Orzhel.

"The ministerial-level consultations with the participation of the European Commission have ended. Gas transit from January 1, 2020 and the volume of gas supplies to Ukraine," Novak said.

The parties also discussed some specific issues related primarily to gas supplies to Ukraine, he noted.

"We discussed the issue of resolving the relationship on the Stockholm arbitration, and the decisions taken by the Stockholm court so that we once again set out the position it is necessary to settle it before January 1, 2020, because court proceedings and appeals will last for a very long time," the minister explained.
