Palestine Considering Buying Oil From Russia - Economy Minister

ST. PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th June, 2019) Palestine is looking at the possibility of importing oil from Russia or Arab countries to reduce its dependence on Israeli oil, Palestine's National Economy Minister Khaled Osseili told Sputnik on Thursday.

"We hope that we will be able to import oil, especially from Russia or any Arab state, to be able to reduce our dependence on Israeli oil," Osseili said on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

Osseili stressed he believed the Russian oil was one of the options available, adding that it was too early to speak about the volume of future oil imports.

"Grain crops are now being exported from Russia to Palestine ... We hope that it will be possible to import from Russia such raw materials as plastic granules, aluminum, iron and wood. This is one of the goals of my visit to Russia," the minister noted.

SPIEF began on Thursday and will last through Saturday. Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency is an official media partner of the forum.
