MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th June, 2019) EU police force Europol said Thursday it had assisted UK and Romanian police in busting a ring involved in a fake train ticket scam that cost British transport authorities about $22 million.
"Simultaneous raids were carried at addresses in the UK and Romania. As a result, 16 individuals were arrested in London and one in Leicester (UK). The suspected gang leader was arrested in Romania," it said.
The operation wrapped up a year-long investigation that was initiated by the British Transport Police in cooperation with Romanian authorities after UK passengers detected fake train tickets and alerted law enforcers.
