10% salary raise recommended for Punjab govt employees

The Punjab chief minister and his cabinet will approve the raise in salaries of government employees.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 28th May, 2019) The government employees of Punjab can get a good news in the upcoming budget as their salaries are expected to be increased in the next budget.

According to details, the preparations for fiscal budget 2018-19 have entered their final stages.

Sources said that a recommendation to raise the salaries of government employees by 10 per cent has been made.

Following this recommendation, the Finance Department has sought approval from Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar.

Sources in Finance Department said that Rs530 billion will be spent on salaries and pensions in the next budget.

Sources added that Rs320 billion and Rs210 billion will be paid under salaries and pensions respectively.

Moreover, the province’s fiscal condition can improve by 10 per cent.

The Punjab chief minister and his cabinet will approve the raise in salaries of government employees.

The Federal Budget 2019-20 proposed Rs3280 billion for the provinces showing Rs700 billion excess amount over the corresponding fiscal year 2018-19.

According to a report published in a local newspaper, the government has directed the regulation wing of finance division to prepare three recommendations regarding increasing salaries and pensions of government officers and send a summary to Finance Ministry.

It has also directed to give details about the financial impact of increasing salaries and pensions on the national exchequer.

The regulation wing has suggested to merge three ad hoc allowances given to government officers into their salaries raise it by 10 per cent while their pension should be increased by 15 per cent.

The government is also considering to increase other allowances of government officers as well, including the medical allowance, border area allowance, and house rent.
