Ukrainian President's Decree To Hold Snap Parliamentary Elections July 21 Comes Into Force

KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 23rd May, 2019) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's decree to dissolve the Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, and to hold snap parliamentary elections on July 21 was published in the official governmental Uryadovy Kuryer newspaper and came into force on Thursday.

"I rule to terminate the powers of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the eighth convocation ahead of schedule ... To set snap elections to the Verkhovna Rada for July 21, 2019," the decree read.

According to the decree, the Ukrainian cabinet of ministers will be tasked with ensuring funding of the snap elections.
