WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) President Donald Trump has approved federal aid for the Navajo Indian Nation's recovery efforts from a February snowstorm followed by floods, the White House announced in a press release on Wednesday."Federal funding is available to the Navajo Nation and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency work resulting from the snowstorm and flooding," the release said. "In addition, Federal funding is available to the Navajo Nation on a cost-sharing basis for snow assistance for a continuous 48-hour period during or proximate to the incident period."
The declaration also makes funding available for mitigation projects to protect against future natural disasters.
In February, more than four feet of snow fell on parts of the Southwestern United States, followed by severe flooding.
