Gazprom, OMV CEOs Discuss Nord Stream 2 Project - Statement

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 22nd May, 2019) Russian Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller and Austrian OMV CEO Rainer Seele discussed Nord Stream 2 project progress in Moscow on Tuesday, Gazprom said in a statement.

"A different focus of the meeting was on the progress of the Nord Stream 2 project. Currently, 1,290 kilometers [802 miles] of the gas pipeline were laid in the Baltic Sea, which is 52.6 percent of its length," the statement said.

According to the statement, CEOs also addressed current areas of cooperation of the two companies. In particular, the parties discussed Russian gas deliveries to Austria. In 2019, its exports to the country continue to grow. The statement said that, according to the preliminary data, in January-April deliveries increased by 20.5 percent year-on-year, while from May 1-20 the growth accounted for 44 percent year-on-year.

Nord Stream 2 is a joint venture of Gazprom and five European companies, including OMV. The pipeline is projected to deliver 55 billion cubic meters (1.9 trillion cubic feet) of Russian natural gas annually to the European Union through the Baltic Sea.
