Estonian Armed Forces Say Russian Military Plane Breached Country's Airspace

The Estonian Defense Forces accused on Monday a Russian Tu-154 military plane of breaching the airspace of Estonia

TALLINN (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th May, 2019) The Estonian Defense Forces accused on Monday a Russian Tu-154 military plane of breaching the airspace of Estonia.

"On Saturday, a Russian Navy Tu-154 plane entered the Estonian airspace near the island of Vaindloo without a permit. The plane spent less than a minute in Estonian airspace. The plane's transponder was on, and the plane was moving in accordance with the presented flight plan. The plane did not maintain a connection with the Estonian air traffic control service," the Estonian Defense Forces said in a statement.

According to the statement, the Estonian Foreign Ministry summoned Russian Ambassador to Estonia Alexander Petrov earlier in the day and submitted a note on the issue to him.

The Russian Defense Ministry has repeatedly said that all flights of Russian military planes are carried out in full accordance with international law, and the rules for the use of airspace over neutral waters.
