KIEV (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 20th May, 2019) Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Monday, during his inauguration ceremony, that he would make reaching a ceasefire in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donbas his top priority as the head of state.
"Our very first task is [achieving] ceasefire in Donbas," the sworn-in president said as broadcast by Ukrainian television channels.
Zelenskiy also said that he was ready to sacrifice his post if it would help bring peace to the region.
"It was not us who started this war, but we will be the ones to end it, and we are ready for a dialogue. But I am confident that the first step for the establishment of this dialogue will be the return of all Ukrainian detainees," the president added.
