BISHKEK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 15th May, 2019) The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Security Council Secretaries called any potential arms race in space unacceptable and condemned all forms of terrorism in a protocol summarizing the outcome of their annual meeting on Wednesday, the Russian Security Council said in a statement.�
The 14th annual meeting of the SCO Security Council Secretaries took place in the Kyrgyz capital of Bishkek earlier in the day.
"Participants of the meeting condemned terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. They stressed the importance of efforts that promote the creation of a single global anti-terrorist front, with the United Nations in a central coordinating role, that would operate based on international law and without politicization and double standards ... The parties noted the importance of keeping space free of weapons and expressed support for the implementation of practical measures to prevent an arms race in outer space," the statement said.
According to the statement, participants of the meeting also stressed the need for joint action against threats to the security and stability of the SCO member states, including the aggravation of conflicts in various regions, terrorism, separatism and extremism threats, illicit trafficking in arms and drugs, transnational organized crime, and cybercrime.
