Russian Military Says Delivered Over 2 Tonnes Of Aid To Settlement Near Syria's Damascus

MESRABA (Syria) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 12th May, 2019) The Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian Reconciliation delivered more than two tons of humanitarian aid to the settlement of Mesraba, the center's spokesman said on Sunday.

"The leadership of the Center made a decision to deliver food kits, including rice, flour, sugar and canned meat, to the most needy residents of this locality," Alexander Makarenko told reporters.

The locals lined up long before the arrival of the Russian humanitarian mission, he said, adding that disabled persons and women with babies were given a priority.

"The situation with the products is still very complicated. About 500 people urgently need such help. Many people live in poverty, today they get the products. We are grateful to Russia for the help. And we hope that this is not the last such action," Adraan Abdel Hani, head of the Mesraba administration, said.

Considering the difficult humanitarian situation in Eastern Ghouta, the center plans to hold several more humanitarian actions in the suburbs of Damascus in the near future.
