MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 08th May, 2019) Russia and Iran see eye to eye on the situation in Syria, Libya, Afghanistan and Venezuela, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said Wednesday after talks with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif.

"We had a substantive dialogue on various international issues, including the situation in Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Venezuela and everything happening around these countries today. We have similar approaches on all of these issues," Lavrov told reporters after the talks.

"We talked in most detail about the Syrian settlement, where due to the efforts of the Astana Three there has been a trace of a real progress on political solution in the last years, last year and a half. We agreed on some measures that will allow us to set up the constitutional committee in the near future, at the very least, and to start the talks backed by the participants of the Congress of the Syrian national dialogue convened last year at the initiative of Russia, Iran and Turkey," Lavrov said.
