Panama Would Like To Expand Trade With Russia - Business Association

SAN JOSE (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th May, 2019) Panama would be interested in increasing trade with Russia if the two countries came to an agreement, Colon Free Zone Users' Association President Daniel Rojas told Sputnik.

"If Russia agrees, we agree, too, business is good with Russia," Rojas said when asked if Panama would like to increase trade with Russia.

Rojas noted that Panama is already importing food items and cars from Russia.

Panamanian President Juan Carlos Varela visited Russia in June in a bid to expand bilateral economic ties. The president noted during his trip to Moscow that the bilateral trade, which is still low, had 'big potential.'

The Colon Free Trade Zone, located near the Atlantic entrance to the Panama Canal, is the largest free trade port in the Americas and the second largest in the world after Hong Kong.
