WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th May, 2019) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo told reporters that he had a good conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Rovaniemi, Finland, on a wide range of issues.
"It was a good conversation," Pompeo said on Monday. "We covered a wide range of issues and I think on every one have charted a way that we can begin to have positive conversations forward."
Pompeo acknowledged both sides have concerns where they stand on opposite ends of the issues, however, he underscored that there is a desire to find a way to make progress on overlapping interests.
Moreover, Pompeo said he talked with Lavrov about pulling out Cuban, Iranian and Russian support from Venezuela.
Pompeo said he will meet with Lavrov again on Tuesday to continue the talks.
