Aeroflot To Pay Compensations To Families Of Moscow Plane Fire Victims - Statement

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th May, 2019) Russian flag carrier Aeroflot will pay compensations to the families of victims and to all passengers affected by the deadly fire aboard the airline-operated SSJ100 aircraft at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, the company said in its statement on Monday.

"Aeroflot will pay compensation to all passengers and to the families of those who lost their lives on flight SU1492 Moscow-Murmansk. Payments will start on 7 May 2019," the statement read.

According to Aeroflot, each passenger of the flight who did not require hospitalization following the incident will receive 1 million rubles ($15,300). Those who needed medical assistance will receive 2 million rubles. Meanwhile, the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy will receive 5 million rubles per family member.

On Sunday, an Aeroflot-operated SSJ100, which was traveling from Moscow to the northwestern Russian city of Murmansk, made an emergency landing at Moscow's Sheremetyevo airport and caught fire. According to the latest data, the tragedy claimed the lives of 41 people.
