MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2019) A deputy Taliban commander for the central Afghan province of Oruzgan was killed in an airstrike carried out in the region at the end of last week, the Khaama Press News Agency reported on Monday, citing sources.

"Deputy Taliban Commander for Uruzgan [Oruzgan] province, Haji Ustaz, was killed in an airstrike conducted in Tarin Kot district May 4, 2019," the sources were quoted as saying by the news agency.

No other casualties have been reported in relation to the airstrike in the province.

The Taliban has been waging war on Kabul for years after being removed from power in 2001. Afghan security forces conduct regular counterterrorist raids across the country against the Taliban militants with support from the US aircraft.
