Investigators Examining Black Boxes From Deadly Plane Fire in Moscow - Emergency Services

Russian emergency services have discovered the two black boxes belonging to the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft that caught fire at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, and investigators are currently working with them, a spokesperson of regional emergency services told Sputnik

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 06th May, 2019) Russian emergency services have discovered the two black boxes belonging to the Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) aircraft that caught fire at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport, and investigators are currently working with them, a spokesperson of regional emergency services told Sputnik.

An Aeroflot-operated SSJ100 caught ablaze at Moscow's Sheremetyevo Airport on Sunday after making an emergency landing. The aircraft was bound for the northern Russian city of Murmansk. The Russian Investigative Committee has reported that 41 people were killed in the tragedy.

"Both black boxes, the flight data recorder and voice recorder, were found and dismantled," the spokesperson said, adding that investigators were currently working with them.

The recorders will then be given to a specialized organization for decoding.

According to the Russian Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, an operational headquarters has been established to assist everyone affected by the deadly incident. Its goal will be to coordinate the actions of regional executive bodies, branches of the Russian Pension Fund, Social Insurance Fund, and the Federal Service for Labour and Employment (Rostrud) in rendering assistance to the victims.
