Facebook Bans Far-Right Media Personalities From Platforms - Reports

WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 03rd May, 2019) Facebook has banned several far-right media personalities from its social media platforms for violating the company's policies against hate and violence, media reported on Thursday.

The company said it will remove the profiles of Nation of islam leader Louis Farrakha, right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his media outlet InfoWars, as well as several other right-wing extremists, including Paul Nehlen, Milo Yiannopoulos, Paul Joseph Watson and Laura Loomer, from Facebook and Instagram, the reports said.

"We've always banned individuals or organizations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology," Facebook said in statement cited by CNN and other outlets.

The social media company previously banned Jones and InfoWars from Facebook in August 2018, but it allowed him and his company to keep their presence on Instagram.

In late March, Facebook announced a ban on "praise, support and representation of white nationalism and white separatism." The statement came after Facebook live-streaming was used during the March 15 attacks on two mosques in New Zealand that killed 50 people.
