WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st May, 2019) Syrian Democratic Council (SDC), the SDF's political wing, would like to be part of the Astana talks on Syria, Syrian Democratic Council Representative to the United States and Member of Presidential Committee Bassam Saker told Sputnik.

"We are excluded from the Astana talks because of Turkey. It's the same thing as with the constitutional committee," Saker said. "We should be part of these talks."

The 12th round of the Astana talks held in Kazakhstan's capital took place on April 25-26. Attended by the Syrian ceasefire guarantor states, namely Iran, Russia and Turkey, the high-level meeting is geared toward the settlement of the conflict in Syria. The Kazakh capital Astana was renamed to Nur-Sultan in late March, 2019, but the name of the talks remained unchanged.
