WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st May, 2019) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit Europe next week for talks with senior officials on Russia, Ukraine, Syria and other matters, the State Department said in a statement on Wednesday."Pompeo will travel to Rovaniemi, Berlin, London, and Nuuk May 5-9," the statement said.
Pompeo's will kick off with a stop on May 6 in Rovaniemi, Finland, where he� will take part in a ministerial meeting of the Arctic Council and deliver a speech on US policy in the Arctic.
The top US diplomat will then head to Berlin on May 7 to meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel and Foreign Minsiter Heiko Mass for talks on issues of mutual concern, including Russia, Ukraine, China, Syria and the Western Balkans, the statement said.
The following day, Pompeo will travel to London, where he is due to hold talks with Prime Minister Theresa May and Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt on "shared global priorities." While in London, Pompeo will also deliver a speech on the US-UK special relationship, the statement said.
On May 9, Pompeo will visit Nuuk, Greenland and meet with Greenlandic Prime Minister Kim Kielsen Danish Foreign Minister Anders Samuelsen, and Greenlandic Foreign Minister Ane Lone Bagger. The officials will discuss shared priorities in the Arctic region and opportunities for expanding engagement with Greenland, the State Department said.
