DONETSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 25th April, 2019) The head of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin asked local officials to work out a simplified procedure for border-crossing with Russia after Moscow eased the path to citizenship for the residents of the two self-proclaimed republics in eastern Ukraine.
On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree to facilitate the process of issuing Russian passports to residents of certain areas of the Luhansk and Donetsk regions of Ukraine.
"[We have decided to] ask the revenue ministry, the state security ministry to work out a simplified mechanism for crossing the border with Russia at the checkpoints. The deadline is June 1, 2019," Pushilin said.
