Elimination of Idlib Terrorist Threat to Be Discussed at Astana Talks - Russian Diplomat

Participants of the upcoming talks on Syria in the so-called Astana format in the Kazakh capital will discuss the ways to eliminate the terrorist threat coming from Syria's Idlib, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said on Wednesday

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 24th April, 2019) Participants of the upcoming talks on Syria in the so-called Astana format in the Kazakh capital will discuss the ways to eliminate the terrorist threat coming from Syria's Idlib, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin said on Wednesday.

The 12th round of the Astana talks is due to take place in Nur-Sultan from April 25-26.

"Tomorrow, another high-level round of the Astana-format talks will begin in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. We will discuss the situation on the [Syrian] ground and what we need to do in order to definitively eliminate the threat [of terrorism in Syria], particularly the one that is currently coming from the terrorist enclave in Idlib. Additionally, we will discuss what steps we need to take to advance the political process, without which sustainable long-term results cannot be achieved," Vershinin said at the annual Moscow Conference on International Security.
