PTI lawmakers come to blows with traffic warden after RDA chairman’s son challaned

Junaid Abbasi was riding RDA’s official car with 013 number when traffic warden stopped him upon violating the law.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 22nd April, 2019) Another incident of political intervention by influential persons has surfaced.

According to details, the son of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) Chairman Arif Abbasi, Junaid Abbasi engaged in a quarrel with a traffic warden over a challan. Upon this, provincial ministers Raja Rashid Hafeez, Arif Abbasi and Wasiq Qayyum reached the spot.

Sources said that Junaid Abbasi was riding RDA’s official car with 013 number when traffic warden stopped him upon violating the law.

Junaid Abbasi misbehaved with the DSP present at the spot upon which, the DSP ordered to arrest the boy.

The warden said that Junaid was coming from the opposite side which he denied.

Speaking outside the police station, Rashid Hafeez said that the warden could have challaned the boy instead of beating him and bringing him to the police station.

On the other hand, traffic warden said that they brought the accused to New Town police station for legal inquiry but Rashid Hafeez reached there along with other ministers.

The warden alleged the minister of tearing down the FIR against Junaid which Rashid Hafeez denied.

The lawmakers allegedly engaged in a brawl with the warden and tore down his uniform.

Upon receiving the information of the incident, SP Rawal Usman Butt reached the police station.

After listening to both the parties, he sub, submitted a report to CPO. The CPO then ordered SP Usman to supervise an inquiry into the case to be done by ASP New Town.

According to sources, Raja Rashid Hafeez pressured the police to suspend the traffic wardens.

The matter was however buried after being highlighted on media.
