MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 21st April, 2019) The Sri Lankan authorities were aware of the Sunday explosions being plotted across the country, but did not manage to take necessary measures to prevent them, local media reported on citing Sri Lanka's prime minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The prime minister has made respective remarks in a special address in the Sri Lankan capital, according to the news 1st broadcaster.
Eight explosions took place in the island nation on the Easter day, hitting several churches with Catholic worshipers and hotels in Colombo and other cities. The Sri Lankan authorities had declared a curfew across the country following the attacks. Over 200 people, including at least 35 foreigners, have reportedly lost their lives in the explosions.
