MINSK (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 19th April, 2019) A presidential election in Belarus will be held in 2020, while the parliamentary elections will take place in 2019, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Friday.
"A presidential election should take place in 2020. In 2020, it will be held whatever happens with the government. We will not play games with the people, we will not have political games," Lukashenko said.
Lukashenko suggested holding the parliamentary elections on November 7.
The parliamentary elections are expected to be held no later than September 10, 2020, according to the country's election watchdog. Its head has said in the past that holding two election campaigns in one year could be impractical and suggesting holding one of them in late 2019.
