PETERSBURG (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 18th April, 2019) Russia will participate in the meeting of the heads of the Eurasian parliaments' upper houses that will take place in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan in September, Russian Federation Council speaker Valentina Matvyienko said on Thursday at a meeting with her Kazakh counterpart, Dariga Nazarbayeva."There will be a meeting of the heads of the upper chambers of parliaments of Eurasian countries in Nur-Sultan in September, we are actively preparing for this event. We will visit [you country] and work here with great pleasure," Matvyienko said.
She also said that it was necessary to develop new formats of cooperation in addition to the traditional ones, stressing that the upcoming meeting can be a good example of such new formats.
"[There is] a need both in new formats and new cooperation mechanisms, and this meeting is an example of this," Matvyienko said.
The fourth meeting of the heads of the Eurasian parliaments' upper houses will be held in Nur-Sultan on September 23-24. According to Kazakh lower house speaker Nurlan Nigmatulin, up to 60 countries have already confirmed their participation in the meeting in Nur-Sultan.
