Omar Ayub likely to be made Finance Minister

After Asad Umar has announced stepping down as finance minister, the government is considering various options to replace him.

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 18th April, 2019) Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan is likely to be made the new Finance Minister.

After Asad Umar has announced stepping down as finance minister, the government is considering various options to replace him.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has called upon Petroleum Minister Omar Ayub Khan to talk to him in this regard. Omar Ayub reportedly refused to take the Petroleum Ministry.

He is likely to be given the charge of Finance Ministry.

Earlier, Shaukat Tarin, whose name was surfacing to be appointed as finance adviser, refused to take the offer.

Former caretaker finance minister Salman Shah, former finance minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh, former State Bank of Pakistan governor Ishrat Hussain and economist Hafeez Pasha are among other prominent Names being considered for the position of finance adviser.

At least five cabinet ministers are likely to reshuffled by tonight or tomorrow morning.

The five ministers, including Petroleum Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan, are likely to be removed. Sahibzada Meboob Sultan, Ali Amin Gandapur and Faisal Vawda also might be removed.

A reshuffle is likely in Petroleum, Interior and Parliamentary Affairs ministries.
