ALEXANDRIA (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 12th April, 2019) Libya has notified the UN Security Council that Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar's troops, in their offensive on Tripoli, will not attack the country's civilian population, Libyan parliament head Aguila Saleh Issa told Sputnik.

"The army's actions were coordinated with the signed political agreements, the constitution and the Libyan parliament's decision. The government of Fayez Sarraj freed criminals and gave them money to fight the Libyan army. I will note that some of these criminals have been put on an international wanted list," he said.

"We reassured the Security Council and the international community that the life of Libyans, their shrines, property, security, freedom are safeguarded by Libyan soldiers. It is impossible to imagine that soldiers could attack ordinary citizens, because we are all one flesh and blood," the speaker said.
