MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th April, 2019) Japan and Russia are still coordinating the dates for Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's visit to Japan as well as the next round of Japan-Russia ministerial talks in the so-called 2+2 format, a spokesperson for the Japanese Foreign Ministry told Sputnik.
Earlier in the day, the chairman of the Japanese New Party Daichi, Muneo Suzuki, said that the Russian and Japanese ministers of defense and foreign affairs would meet in Tokyo in May.
"As regards the schedule for Minister Lavrov's visit to Japan and the next round of '2+2' Japan-Russia talks, it is still being adjusted through diplomatic channels," the spokesperson said.
The previous round of the Russian-Japanese "2+2" consultations was held in Moscow on July 31, 2018.
