Kremlin Says Treats Lukashenko's Emotional Remarks With Understanding

Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that Moscow would prefer a more diplomatic way of expression on the part of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, but treated with understanding his emotional remarks related to the disputed issues

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 11th April, 2019) Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Thursday that Moscow would prefer a more diplomatic way of expression on the part of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, but treated with understanding his emotional remarks related to the disputed issues.

On Wednesday, the Russian agricultural watchdog said was temporarily limiting imports of apples and pears from Belarus starting April 12, explaining the move by the fact that some of the imports were supported by false sanitary certificates. Lukashenko said that Russia had closed its market to Belarusian goods and got "brazen to such an extent that they begin to twist [Belarus'] arms."

"Of course, we prefer expressions that better fit the allied nature of our relations. Although sometimes we treat such emotional remarks with understanding, precisely because of the very special, close and friendly nature of our bilateral relations.," Peskov said.

According to the Kremlin, Moscow and Minsk do disagree on some commercial issues, but both parties are working on solving such disputes.

"We can not agree with Alexander [Lukashenko]. We are imposing no sanctions," Peskov added, commenting on Lukashenko's remarks on restricting Belarusian goods on the Russian market.
