Tharparkar (Pakistan Point News / Online - 10th April, 2019) PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has inaugurated 330 megawatt power project in Thar.Bilawal was received by Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah on his arrival in Thar. He was briefed on resettlement policy from mining site. However Sindh government could not evolve a policy for spending Thar coal royalty on Thar.It is pertinent to mention here that process for generating electricity from Thar coal was started 2 years back.
Power generation was started from Thar coal from 19 last month. 330 megawatt electricity was integrated into National grid.Coal reservoirs available in Thar stand at 175 billion tons and its value has been estimated more than 2.5 trillion Dollars.The electricity demand in the country is 25000 megawatts, however, it is not possible to transmit 21000 megawatts electricity at a time due to faults in transmission and distribution system.
