Azam Swati to be re-appointed as federal minister

He will again be given the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 9th April, 2019) Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Azam Swati is likely to be inducted into the Federal cabinet.

According to a report published in a local newspaper, Azam Swati will take oath as federal minister in a few days.

He will again be given the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Sources said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has nodded re-appointing Swati as the federal minister.

Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati had tendered his resignation to Prime Minister in a meeting at the PM Office on December 6, 2018 over allegations that he played a role in the 'unlawful' transfer of former Islamabad IG Jan Mohammad.

Swati is, currently, under investigation for alleged misuse of authority and the Supreme Court of Pakistan had decided to try him under Article 62(1)(f) of the Constitution.

The chief justice had taken suo motu notice of the transfer of Inspector General of Police Islamabad Jan Muhammad on October 27, 2018 for allegedly refusing to take action on the complaint by Swati's son regarding fight over purported encroachment by a family at their farmhouse.

President Dr Arif Alvi accepted the resignation of Minister for Science and Technology Azam Swati after over a month.

The president accepted Azam Swati’s resignation upon the advice of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
