Islamabad Says Has 'Reliable Intelligence' India Preparing New Attack On Pakistan In April

NEW DELHI (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 07th April, 2019) Pakistan has "reliable intelligence" that India is planning to conduct an act of aggression against the country between April 16 and April 20, Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Sunday.

"[There is] reliable intelligence that India is readying for another act of aggression ... A [fresh] act of aggression by India against Pakistan is likely between April 16 and 20. According to the reliable intelligence we have right now, a new Pulwama-like incident can be [planned] by India to increase diplomatic pressure on Pakistan and to justify military action against Pakistan," Qureshi said at a press conference, as quoted by the Geo tv broadcaster.

According to the foreign minister, the decision to make this information public was taken following a consultation with Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan.

"It is our policy to keep the nation informed ... The international community must take notice of India's irresponsible behaviour. The world must not stay silent, or peace and stability in South Asia could suffer," Qureshi added.

Tensions between India and Pakistan escalated in February, after the Pakistani military shot down two Indian warplanes in the disputed region of Kashmir, responding to an earlier airstrike by Indian aircraft against what New Delhi said was a camp of Jaish-e-Mohammad group, considered terrorists by India and located on the Pakistani soil across the so-called Line of Control, separating India- and Pakistan- controlled areas of Kashmir.

The Indian airstrike came after a deadly attack by Jaish-e-Mohammad on the Indian paramilitary police force in Pulwama, Kashmir on February 14, leaving 45 victims. While India has accused Pakistan of supporting the militants and having a "direct hand" in the incident, Pakistan, in turn, has rejected the allegations.
