Centre releases Rs27b as gas royalty funds to provinces

The federal government released Rs27 billion as gas royalty funds to provinces under the National Finance Commission Award (NFA) during the first seven months of this year, sources said on Thursday

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News / Online - 04th April, 2019) The Federal government released Rs27 billion as gas royalty funds to provinces under the National Finance Commission Award (NFA) during the first seven months of this year, sources said on Thursday.The money was transferred to the provinces as gas royalty and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa remained highest receiver of gas royalty with more than Rs10 billion.Likewise, Punjab received over Rs3 billion, Sindh over Rs7 billion and Baluchistan Rs6 billion respectively.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan during his recent address in Ghotki had said the federal government is moving towards bank defaulter. He said the centre transfers most of the resources to provinces.A credible revenue officer said provinces have completely been failed to collect revenue whereas the centre is also facing problems in collecting revenue.He said the dialogue for the next NFC Award is in progress between centre and provinces and in this connection a meeting has been held between the representatives in Lahore.The meeting also reviewed 3 per cent tax submission on KP after Fata merger with KP. He said the federal government has asked the provinces to reduce their expenses.The official said the centre wants introduction of new tax system but provinces are not yet agreed.
