MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 04th April, 2019) The three euroskeptic groups in the European Parliament (ENF, EFDD, ECR) will announce a coalition composed of both serving and new members, and will present their project for the future of Europe soon, Nicolas Bay, the French member of the European Parliament, told Sputnik.
The elections to the EU legislative body will be held on May 23-26.
"Very soon, we will have an occasion to present the profile of Europe that we want to build. There are of course partnerships already, or at least discussions with other European political formations - both those who are not yet represented in the European Parliament and who will enter it on May 26, and also certain deputies and parties that now sit in other parliamentary groups," Bay said, while answering the question on when the creation of a coalition would be announced.
The goal of the coalition, which includes the Europe of Nations and Freedom Group (ENF), the Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) and Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (ECR), is to "create an important cluster" to oppose the supporters of globalism and immigration to the European Union, according to the lawmaker, who also serves as the general secretary of the French National Rally (formerly National Front) party.
"These EU elections are crucial. They are not national elections, which would have an immediate effect on the politics of the country; they will have a very important impact ... Europe is at a crossroads. Either we are going further along the way of European federalism, or we restore the necessary liberty of our nations and we build Europe of protection and cooperation, Europe of people proud of their identities," Bay underlined.
The lawmaker went on to slam Macron's pro-EU La Republique En Marche! (LREM) party over its disconnection with reality that the French people live in.
