Qureshi-Tareen face-off: Faisal Vawda, Fawad Ch support Jahangir Tareen

In reply to Shah Mahmood criticism, both ministers defend Jahangir Tareen participation in cabinet meetings.

LAHORE- (Pakistan Point News- 1st April 2019) PTI ministers have taken the side of Jahangir Tareen following a face-off between him and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Water Minister Faisal Vawda was the first minister who appeared to defend Tareen following a tweet of Information Minister Fawad Ch in which he backed the senior politician who had been disqualified by the Supreme Court to hold any public office.

Vawda said Tareen sits in official meetings on the insistence of cabinet members, including himself. He tweeted: "He has selflessly done a lot for the party, we respect him as a senior colleague and learn from his expertise. Nobody in the party can dictate us, the prime minister is our leader and we take instructions from him only."

Fawad Ch, in his tweet, said: "He [Tareen] is one of the biggest reasons for PTI being in power. He joins cabinet meetings on the prime minister's wish. The cabinet should respect the prime minister's wishes. The court orders against him are unfortunate. The orders removed him from the elections, not from the hearts of PTI workers."

The fresh tussle between Qureshi and Tareen started when the former raised issue in a press conference advising Tareen not to attend the cabinet meetings.

Qureshi asked Tareen to think about his participation in the cabinet meetings as it gives PML-N opportunity to raise questions and criticize the government.

Tareen took to the twitter to reply Qureshi: "There is only one man in my life whom I consider my leader and to whom I am answerable. His name is Imran Khan."

"I have stood by his side through thick and thin and will continue to do so till my last breath, IA. What others may say for their own strange reasons does not concern me."
