ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 01st Apr, 2019) Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council, FNC, discussed, with Emilio Monzo, President of the Argentinian Parliament, ways of reinforcing the political, parliamentary, economic, investment and commercial cooperation between the UAE and Argentina.
Both sides highlighted the importance of establishing an Emirati-Argentinian Parliamentary Friendship Committee, which will aim to reinforce the overall cooperation between the two countries and support their institutions.
During the meeting, which was held at the FNC’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, Dr. Al Qubaisi welcomed Monzo and his delegation while praising the strong bilateral ties between the UAE and Argentina.
Dr. Al Qubaisi also briefed Monzo about the UAE’s sustainable development process and its comprehensive renaissance, which is due to its wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
She also presented the "Committees of Friendship and Cooperation Agreement" signed between the FNC and the Latin America and Caribbean Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU, which is the first agreement signed by the group and an Arab parliament.
Dr. Al Qubaisi stressed that the FNC, as a legislative institution, is keen to create a better and safer future, through cooperating with parliamentarians from around the world while highlighting the country’s efforts to predict the future and create a diverse post-oil economy, as well as to train qualified human resources and form the government of the future. Ministries of tolerance and happiness have been created, she further added.
Monzo said that the Argentinian leadership is aware of the importance of reinforcing its overall ties with the UAE while pointing out potential opportunities for coordination, cooperation and partnerships, to benefit from the expertise of both countries, especially in parliamentary areas.
He also highlighted the importance of reinforcing the role of parliaments, through strengthening parliamentary diplomacy and participating in the efforts to combat terrorism and extremism.
