ABU DHABI, (Pakistan Point News - 01st Apr, 2019) Hamil Al Qubaisi, Vice President of the UAE Ice sports Federation, stated that hosting the UAE’s hosting of the World Ice Hockey Qualifiers reflects the confidence of the international sporting community in the country, as well as its prominent reputation in hosting major international sporting events.

In his exclusive statements to the Emirates news Agency, WAM, on the sidelines of the launch of the qualifiers yesterday, he said that the country is providing participating teams with comfort and attention.

Regarding the readiness of the UAE National Team, Al Qubaisi noted that the team participated in a training camp before the start of the championship, adding, "We are looking forward to winning the first place in these qualifiers, to qualify for the World Cup."

He further added that ice hockey in the UAE is achieving consecutive successes, and the country leads the region in this sport, as the 2012 qualifiers also took place in Abu Dhabi.

"We are welcoming the participating teams in their second country, the UAE, the country of compassion and tolerance. We thank everyone who worked with us to ensure the success of the event," he further said.

The qualifiers began yesterday at the Abu Dhabi Ski Club in Zayed Sports City, with the participation of the UAE, Kuwait, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Thailand, Kyrgyzstan and Hong Kong, who are competing to qualify for the World Cup.

The official opening ceremony of the qualifiers was attended by Camola Calvo, Vice President of the International Federation of Ice Hockey and President of the European Ice Hockey Federation.
