MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 01st April, 2019) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas have discussed the escalations of the Gaza tensions and the recent move by US President Donald Trump on recognizing Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.
Bogdanov and Abbas met on Sunday on the sidelines of the 30th Arab League summit in Tunisia.
"In a confidential discussion that was also attended by Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Maliki, [the officials] focused on the sharp escalation of the situation in the Palestinian territories, primarily in the Gaza Strip, as well as on the US unilateral steps in relation to Jerusalem and the Golan Heights, which grossly violate the well-known international legal framework of the Arab-Israeli settlement, including the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council," the ministry said in a statement.
