Russian Military Holds Humanitarian Campaign In Syria's Rif-Dimashq Province - Official

MEYDA (Syria) (Pakistan Point news / Sputnik - 30th March, 2019) Personnel of the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Syrian Reconciliation brought humanitarian cargo to the town of Meyda, located in the southern Rif-Dimashq governorate, the center's representative has said.

"During the war, the city infrastructure has been significantly destroyed. There are no medical facilities. A lot of buildings have been destroyed. That is why the center's leadership decided to provide humanitarian assistance," Alexandr Makarenko told reporters.

Ahmed Reza, the mayor of Meyda, said that while retracting, militants destroyed everything on their way.

Local resident Sadush Hadi told reports that when he and his family returned to his house in Meyda last year, "everything was bad" as there was no heat in his house and windows in the building were broken.

Before the beginning of the military conflict in Syria, over 6,000 people lived in Meyda. However, a lot of residents left Meyda after the beginning of the war. The town was liberated from terrorists in 2017.
