MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th March, 2019) More than 850 Syrian refugees have returned to their home country from Lebanon and Jordan over the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry's Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides and Refugee Migration Monitoring said on Friday.

"Over the past 24 hours, a total of 856 people returned to the Syrian Arab Republic from foreign states: 254 people (including 77 women and 130 children) left Lebanon for Syria via the Jaydet-Yabus and Talkalakh checkpoints, and 602 people (including 181 women and 307 children) from Jordan via the Nasib checkpoint," the center stated in its daily bulletin.

According to the bulletin, 92 internally displaced persons have also returned home within past 24 hours.

Syrian engineering units continue their mine-clearance operations. Over the past 24 hours, they have cleared of mines 3.5 hectares (8.6 acres) of land and also found and destroyed 42 explosive devices, according to the bulletin.

The Russian Chechen Republic's Akhmad Kadyrov Foundation also carried out one humanitarian action in Aleppo, handing out 15 sets of food packs to families of military intelligence service Mukhabarat, the bulletin said.

As the Syrian government has regained control over most of the country's territories that were seized by terrorists, it is now focused on creating favorable conditions for repatriating refugees. Moscow is assisting Damascus in this process, along with providing humanitarian aid to civilians and being a guarantor of the ceasefire.
