Russian air defense systems will become invisible to potential enemies due to their new passive 360-degree-rotation radar, which does not emit radio waves that enable detection, Valery Makeev, the director of arms manufacturer Nudelman Precision Engineering Design Bureau, told Sputnik
MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 29th March, 2019) Russian air defense systems will become invisible to potential enemies due to their new passive 360-degree-rotation radar, which does not emit radio waves that enable detection, Valery Makeev, the director of arms manufacturer Nudelman Precision Engineering Design Bureau, told Sputnik.
"All modern-day conflicts start with the destruction of an enemy's air defense systems, which are detected due to their radio waves and then targeted by aerial weapons. If the air defense systems are equipped with Sosna systems [new short-range air defense missile system], the situation will change significantly," Makeev stressed.
He pointed out that the work on creating the new systems had almost come to an end.
"Within the last three years, we carried out experimental design work on creating an electrooptical 360-degree-rotation system. The work is almost completed � the state tests were successfully ended in March. Hopefully, the decision to put these systems into service will be signed," Makeev said.
He added that the new system could be installed both at ground-based and marine air defense systems as well as on military vehicles and secured facilities.
