WASHINGTON (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) The US District Court judge has set the sentencing date in the case of Russian citizen Maria Butina, arrested and detained in the United States on charges of failing to register with the US authorities for acting as a foreign agent, for April 26.

During a status hearing on Thursday, Judge Tanya Chutkan of the District Court for the District of Columbia said that Butina will be sentenced on April 26 at noon.

Thursday's hearing was supposed include sentencing, but the prosecution requested more time in February and said it had agreed with Butina's legal defense team to hold an additional status hearing.
