Moscow Warns Curacao May Be Used As Springboard for Foreign Intervention in Venezuela

The Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday that Curacao may become a base for the potential foreign intervention in Venezuela after the United States and the Netherlands signed a deal to use the island for humanitarian supplies to Venezuela

MOSCOW (Pakistan Point News / Sputnik - 28th March, 2019) The Russian Foreign Ministry warned on Thursday that Curacao may become a base for the potential foreign intervention in Venezuela after the United States and the Netherlands signed a deal to use the island for humanitarian supplies to Venezuela.

"We could not miss the agreement, signed on March 15 by the United States and the Netherlands, which allows for the use of the territory of Curacao... as a hub for humanitarian supplies to the citizens of Venezuela," the ministry's spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova, said.

"There is an interesting detail: the parliament and government of Curacao were initially wary of this undertaking, as they did not want to provoke tensions with Caracas. However, in the end, they were 'pressed'... The Hague gave the United States a carte blanche for using their the former colony as a springboard for aggressive intervention in the affairs of Venezuela under the guise of humanitarian slogans," the spokeswoman added.
